In the Mid 1800's a family came to California The now Sackett's homesteaded a 16000 acre ranch in the Ortega valley just off the SR 74. The government has taken most of their land away.
They Still have 170 Acres
Our family had an opportunity to visit the Sackett ranch Have a BBQ and a great hike
The Sackett Ranch
We got there just after 5 pm on Saturday October 8th 2000 For a BBQ
We loved the place so much Dad and Matt went back the next day for a hike, Randi had to work or we would have camped with the the rest of the group Here are the pictures from the walk we took. all these pictures are part of the property
These are pictures of gates to the property. In the fog the next morning when we came back for a hike. After you turn off Ortega Hwy "the first gate" you drive about 3 miles. This is the second gate. After you pass this gate you drive about 6 more miles back into the canyon. There you drop into a meadow. This for as far as the eye can see is the Sackett Ranch.
